Modisa means “guardian” in Setswana, a local language in central Botswana where Valentin Gruener and Mikkel Legart founded a conservation and wildlife farm in 2009. They are committed to the preservation of local wildlife and the Kalahari ecosystem. You may know them from videos of Val and Sirga the lioness hugging or from the Netflix documentary about Sirga.
We are drawn to the natural world because that’s who we are, beneath our clothing, our ego, our masks, and our stories. The healing that comes from sitting and communing with plants manifests in many forms, opening doors and portals to step further inward.
