When I travel, my little plastic bag for liquids is squeezed tight full.

I like my natural and organic skincare and just can’t take using hotel amenities. Using most conventional products gives me itchy scalp and crappy skin after a couple of days. When I’m overseas, the last thing I want to do is to worry about what I’m putting on my skin.

There’s no need to compromise just because I’m not in the comfort of my own home.

Here are my top faves.

ILA

ILA is an amazing philosophy, not just mere products. Even if beautiful products.   What they offer is “beyond organic”.  Beautiful pure ingredients are sourced from around the world, supporting traditional sustainable practices and the products are made in the English countryside by conscious creation.

ILA Travel Set - Sandra the TravellerI first found this product almost five years ago at Shangri-La Tokyo. I was an immediate convert but it wasn’t until recently that it became available in Singapore. So I was thrilled to find their Travel Essentials Collection just before I went glamping. This collection contains 5 items – Shampoo for Revitalizing Hair, Conditioning for Nourishing Hair, Body Wash for Toning Skin, Body Lotion for Nurturing Skin, and Bath Soak for Pure Relaxation.

Their scents are amazing and they come beautifully packed. Their small sizes (50ml) means that you can fit them into that little zippy bag. They aren’t all going to fit so they do come in their own zippy bag that you can toss into your luggage. If I only have a carry on, then the shampoo comes with me.

(There are some ingredients I’m less than thrilled about but they are small amounts. I would love more organic body care products to come in travel sizes.)

Centella

Centella Organics - Sandra the Traveller

I LOVE Centella. I love the smell. I love the texture.

I love the way my skin feels when I use Centella. I’m happy when I use Centella – the scents trigger coherence in the brain.

I think it says something when, after a LATE night out, I still insist on cleaning my face with my Centella. Yes, I have at times gone to bed without washing my face! Not the best habit, I admit. But not with Centella.

When I travel, I minimize what I bring. I stick to the basics of cleanser, toner, and lotion. Both the cleanser and lotion can fit into the zip bag. The toner I either have to put into a store-bought <100ml container or I pack it in my luggage.

And there’s nothing like feeling refreshed after washing your face with Centella during the flight!

Young Living Thieves Oil

Thieves Oil - Sandra the TravellerI ALWAYS take Thieves Oil with me on flights. The re-circulated air means if someone is sick on the plane, and your own vibrations are low, that bacteria and virus may push you over your balance point. And before you even leave the plane, you are sniffling.

Even though I travel so much better these days, it is still hard on my energetic and physical bodies. Essential oils, in general, are high in vibration and using them helps boost our frequency.

When I have a cold, I put just ONE drop on a mask which I wear on the plane. This is what’s considered a “hot” oil, meaning that it stings in sensitive areas like eyes, lips, etc so do be careful what the oil touches. Thieves boosts my immunity and lung health, which means I also put some on a tissue or a cotton ball in the hotel vent. It’s great to have on hand when you first have that sore throat.

Why ruin your vacation when you don’t have to?

The story of the Thieves oil is that the recipe was effectively used during the Plague against infection.

Bach Flowers Rescue Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy I started using Bach Rescue Remedy back in university when I had to give presentations of history and political science papers. I got major butterflies and words would get stuck.

This flower essence blend is GREAT for calming. Travelling can often fray nerves, if not mine, others. It just makes it all go much more smoothly when everyone is feeling confident and happy, rather than angst-y and angry.

And if you have kids?

This is a must! It comes in a kids version, with glycerin instead of brandy as a preservative.  All my friends’ kids actually LOVE it and ask for it when they are feeling “off” or “weird”. Really. My dogs also get it.

Just a few drops in water or directly under the tongue.

These are my top favourites to have on hand during the flight. What else is in my hand luggage? My passport & wallet, camera(s), a book, a magazine, a scarf, my Bose earphones, Aura Soma, and my iPhone that’s loaded with great music, meditations, and more books! My Bose earphones is my #1 for not getting motion sickness.
